Pub­lished in its sev­enth annu­al edi­tion in 1898, the Annu­aire Général et Inter­na­tion­al de la Pho­togra­phie was one of the lead­ing French ref­er­ence works for pro­fes­sion­al pho­tog­ra­phers and advanced ama­teurs at the turn of the twen­ti­eth cen­tu­ry. Edit­ed by Marc Le Roux, it com­bined tech­ni­cal arti­cles, indus­try infor­ma­tion, direc­to­ries, and adver­tise­ments with exten­sive illus­tra­tions, doc­u­ment­ing the rapid devel­op­ment of pho­tog­ra­phy dur­ing this period.
Today, the Annu­aire pro­vides valu­able insight into the pho­to­graph­ic indus­try and the com­mer­cial context.
