Annuaire Général et International de la Photographie 1908 (17th and Final Year)

Pub­lished in 1908, the final vol­ume of the Annu­aire Général et Inter­na­tion­al de la Pho­togra­phie marks the con­clu­sion of a ref­er­ence work that doc­u­ment­ed more than fif­teen years of devel­op­ments in pho­tog­ra­phy. Edit­ed by Roger Aubry, it com­bines tech­ni­cal arti­cles, reports on new process­es and equip­ment, direc­to­ries, and com­mer­cial adver­tise­ments, pro­vid­ing a com­pre­hen­sive overview of the pho­to­graph­ic indus­try at the begin­ning of the twen­ti­eth cen­tu­ry. The 1908 vol­ume appeared dur­ing a peri­od of rapid inno­va­tion, when stereo­scop­ic pho­tog­ra­phy, colour pho­tog­ra­phy, and com­pact hand cam­eras had become increas­ing­ly estab­lished. Today, the final Annu­aire is an impor­tant his­tor­i­cal source for study­ing both the tech­ni­cal progress and com­mer­cial land­scape of pho­tog­ra­phy imme­di­ate­ly before the First World War.
