Léon Gaumont was a French inventor and industrialist best known as the founder of Gaumont, one of the world’s oldest film companies. Before becoming a pioneer of the motion picture industry, he also manufactured high-quality stereoscopic equipment, including cameras and viewers. His stereoscopic products reflect the close relationship between photography and the emerging cinema at the end of the nineteenth century.
