Fouquet, Jean Baptiste

Jean-Bap­tiste Fou­quet was one of the lead­ing French man­u­fac­tur­ers of stere­o­scopes dur­ing the late nine­teenth cen­tu­ry. In 1873, he patent­ed an improved ver­sion of the Eng­lish grapho­scope, incor­po­rat­ing stereo lens­es into an enclosed hous­ing to enhance the view­ing expe­ri­ence. Under Fou­quet’s direc­tion, the com­pa­ny became one of France’s fore­most pro­duc­ers of stereo­scop­ic equip­ment, export­ing its prod­ucts inter­na­tion­al­ly and help­ing to shape the devel­op­ment of French stere­oscopy.
